Daily Closure of School gates at 7.20 amExcuse me, if you may. Well, even if you are not intending to excuse me at all, I'm going to say it anyway. Firstly, I must mention that even 5 minutes of sleep is very, very precious to me. Silent reading and reflection is bullshit. Secondly, we are not "a distraction to others". If anyone's a distraction, it's the nutty principal. His redundant 20-minute speeches after every morning assembly is a waste of time and is better spent doing other miscellaneous things like taking a piss and sleeping. Heck, I'm not even sure if his speeches are good enough to be labelled "redundant" or demoted to "bullshit", because from the first day of school I hadn't heard a word of what the man on the platform from 15 odd feet away is saying. I can't even study. I would be asked to put my things away and stand up. Why? Because I don't bother to pretend to listen to bullcrap. Gee.
Pleased (No, we are not pleased to be informed at all) be informed that with effect from Monday 30 March 2009, the school gates will be closed at 7.20 am. Our morning assembly commences promptly at 7.25 am sharp everyday and students are expected to be at the assembly ground or classroom block for reading before this (If we are indeed expected to arrive before "7.25 am", then that means I could strut in at 7.24 am and at the 59th second and no one could say a damn thing, right?). To facilitate a conducive environment for silent reading or reflection (also known as sleeping while pretending to do something else constructive), students are strongly encouraged, to arrive early so that they do not cause a distraction to others who are already settled down and reading.
Students who arrive after 7.20 am will be considered late and actions will be taken against students who are repeatedly late for school. (Okay. First you say that we are "strongly encouraged to arrive early", but you're going to punish us if we do not fulfill your expectations? Right...)
We hope you will encourage (I don't see how "encourage" fits in when you are going to use oppression and force anyway) your child/ward to come to school early.
We thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this. (I'm not about to welcome your factitious thanks at all)
